I may not have as much as others (yet), but I like my current collection. I'd love a few more, no surprises there, but for now this is what I have and I love each and every one of them. Enjoy.

Spring Wedding
My aunt is getting married in May (CONGRATS!!!) and because it's a Spring wedding, she wants the guests to wear yellows, pinks, greens or champagne colors (per the request of the bride - no black please). Of course, not only am I excited for her, I'm also excited about what I'm wearing. I'm trying to work around my shoes and if money was no object, I'd love to wear any of these:

Christian Lacroix Asymmetric Puff Dress, $4,895
I love the whimsical details of this dress. It looks like such a happy dress. That said, it's perfect for a Spring wedding.

Stella McCartney Asymmetric Mini Dress, $1,395
This minimalist dress is what a sophisticated wedding guest would wear. Chic but not over-the-top with details, flirty but not overtly sexy.

Thread Social One Shoulder Dress, $495
The cute dress in the perfect Spring shade of coral is sure to turn heads. I love the details to show off that toned back. Also, it's not a bank-breaker so it's even more perfect!
Note: I just noticed that all three dresses are asymmetrical.
All dresses available at NAP.

Shopping Quotable Quotes

To break up the monotony of shoe posts, I've decided to post some funny quotes about shopping.
1.) I like my money where I can see it...in my closet.
2.) Cinderella proved that a shoe can change a life. (I'm still searching for that shoe.)
3.) Too much of a good thing can be splendid.
4.) I'm shopping to help the economy.
5.) Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to shop.
6.) The difference between men and women? When women are depressed, they go shopping. When men are depressed, they invade another country.
7.) Shopping is better than sex. If you're not satisfied after shopping you can make an exchange for something you really like.
8.) I have enough money to last me the rest of my life, unless I buy something.
9.) I always say shopping is cheaper than a psychiatrist.
10.) A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist.

Nicholas Kirkwood
I have been in lust with Nicholas Kirkwood shoes since I first saw them. One thing's for sure, he is NOT shy about his designs. Most of them are a little out there but still very interesting, almost like art pieces. His shoes are definitely eye-catching, but not everyone can pull them off. I love the edginess of his shoes. I think my favorite part has to be the platform. Many are touting Nicholas Kirkwood as the next Christian Louboutin. If the statement implies that Kirkwood's shoes are going to be the next big thing, then yes, I definitely see that happening.
On a side note, Kirkwood's shoes are a bit hard to find. I had to track them down in Las Vegas when I was last there. Someday, I'll own a pair.

Rick Owens Fold Over Buckle Boot

These boots are pretty interesting. I'd love to see them on. I bet they look pretty awesome. Well, anything Rick Owens is awesome so I guess that goes without saying but still I'd love to see these on.
Available at Browns for GBP 855.

YSL Tribtoo Platform Slingbacks
Apart from CLs, my other shoe love has got to be YSLs. Yes, I only have a pair but that one pair is enough for me to forever be enamored with YSL shoes. I definitely need more closed toe shoes. I don't have any slingbacks currently. These shoes are practically calling out my name. Yes, the heel height is a little on the insane side but the platform makes up for part of it. It's also really comfy (or I think they'd be comfy especially since it looks like it has the same heel height and platform as my Tribute sandals).
I told a couple of my friends that I am limiting myself to 3 pairs of designer shoes this year. This is already pair number 2 and it's only the 2nd day of February. I think I'm in trouble.
Proenza Schouler Cutout Sandals

Looks like the cutout trend is here for at least another season. These Proenza Schouler sandals are not my cup of tea but I appreciate the intent. The architectural heel parallels the cutout design of the sandals perfectly. I'd love to see these on someone. They look fun.
Available at Saks for $875.

BUT if I wasn't on a Shopping Hiatus...
Of course, just because I'm banning myself from buying anything frivolous, I still like to browse the web for things I'd like to have were I not on hiatus. Here's my top 3 (not in any particular order):
CL Python Pumps - because, well, just because...too bad they're not available in CA. Plus, I really need more closed-toe shoes. I was telling JJ that most of my shoes (75% at the very least) are open-toe.
J Brand Skinny Jeans - because I love jeans and I'd live in them if I can (I probably have too many already but one can never have enough).

I'm on another shopping hiatus (or ban, what have you)...apart from my new TV and furniture that is. According to my Chinese horoscope, this is not a good year for me to spend money. I'm going to try my hardest to save (and not shop). I'm not saying I'm not buying anything AT ALL. It's more like, no big-ticket items this year....again, apart from my TV and furniture. Wish me luck!!!
America Ferrara
OMG, how skinny is she?!?!? I'm used to seeing her in Ugly Betty so imagine my shock when I saw this pic. She's almost light years away from her "Real Women Have Curves" days. Pic from InStyle.com

What do you do when...?
you've been looking everywhere for the perfect gray suede boots and you find out that the Prada Zip-Up Suede boots you've been eyeing since they came out last year are now available in your size, in the color you want and for 60% off while you're on a shopping ban??? Seriously, what do you do? I'm at a loss. I should've never gone on BNY's website. What should I do???
camilla and marc Betty Frock
I haven't really been blogging lately because:
1.) I've been on a fashion shopping ban
2.) I gave my camera to my younger brother (I received my new one last week)
3.) I haven't found anything inspiring
Until this dress! I love the sweet yet flirty details of this dress. The details offer a sweet school girl sensibility with a twist. I'm not usually one who likes white dresses for fear of looking too bridal but this one is too gorgeous to pass up. However, with the current state of the economy, it doesn't seem prudent to lust after expensive dresses no matter how beautiful they are.
Coming soon at Shopbop for $750.

Edward's Gray Jacket
JJ and I saw 'Twilight' last weekend. We were probably one of the last ones to see this movie. I really had no expectations going into it since we both really hated the book (but we figured we'd watch it since we read the books). Well, it wasn't much of a surprise that we both didn't like the movie. I think we pretty much laughed all the way through. The only thing we both liked about the movie was Edward's gray jacket. It looks like it's a gray herringbone peacoat with a sky blue satin lining which pretty much matched the blue shirt Edward kept wearing with the jacket. I think the jacket will look cute on my brother but alas it's custom-made. Oh well...
He also wore a blue jacket in the movie, which was also pretty cool. After some research, I figured out that it was from G-Star (which I love!!!). Too bad it's sold out. Oh well again...

More pics below of the gray jacket below:

Note on the movie: I think they could've done better with the casting. Well, Robert Pattinson was ok as Edward. I think Kristin Stewart needs some acting lessons and whoever played Rosalie (who's supposed to be extremely gorgeous in the book) was kinda chubby in the movie (or it could just be her jacket too). Just my opinion though.

Two for Tuesdays...12/09/08
Note: Please don't misconstrue my outfit posts for narcissism...blame it on lack of inspiration or blog ideas.
I have two outfits to post today because I go to school on Tuesday and Thursday nights and I almost always change unless I'm running extremely late. For work, I decided to wear one of my favorite dresses because I haven't worn it in a while. I love the color of this dress. It might have been love at first sight. It's extremely sheer and flimsy and not quite suitable for today's cold-ish weather but I wore it anyway. Maybe that's why I currently have the sniffles. Hmmm...

Dress: Interlud
Slip: INC
Shoes: L.A.M.B.
For school, I wore my go-to outfit of jeans, boots and whatever sweater I happen to grab.

Jeans: AG
Sweater: delia*s
Boots: Charles David ($75 from last year's warehouse sale)
Hat: Urban Outfitters

My Christmas WISH List
Emphasis on WISH. Oh where is the $6B-man?!? Santa? You out there?
1.) Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens
I'm giving my current camera to my brother so I need a new one. A new one means an upgraded one. I would love a Leica but since it's a little out of reach and a little impractical for me, I'd settle for this Canon. I'd even settle for just the body. I'll take care of the lenses.
2.) Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones

These headphones will be you best travel companion, especially on those long international flights I plan to go on. I realized today that these will be extremely useful when I go back to school full-time. No, not to tune out the teacher. It'll be helpful when I'm studying as I'm easily distracted.
That's all I can really think of. My brother and my mom will take care with the rest of my list (hopefully and thanks in advance!). If you're wondering why my list only includes electronics, well, I've got the clothes and the shoes covered. And a good friend told me to only ask for things that I like but wouldn't necessarily spend money on. =) Have a great time shopping for Christmas everyone!!!

Saks Haul - Bags
I'm not as keen about purses as I am about shoes, but at 70% off, I didn't mind buying a few bags (well, 5 actually but not all of them were for me).
Foley + Corinna Jetsetter Jr. Tote
When I first posted about the sale, JG contacted me and asked me to find her a purse. I asked her to email me pics of the bags she wanted and it so happens that Saks actually had 1 of them.
Rebecca Minkoff Market Tote in Forest
Before heading out to the sale, I asked my mom if she wanted anything and naturally she said to get her a purse. She wanted something from YSL or Chloe but all the designer handbags were gone by the time I was done with the shoes. I've seen the Market Tote before and I really liked it so I figure it'll be a good choice for my mom as well. She liked it enough for it to be an early Christmas present.
Kooba Tracy Hobo in Chocolate (shown in Brick Red)
I couldn't leave without getting a little something for me! Lol. After scouring the section for handbags, I spotted this bag underneath a huge pile of other bags. It actually looks better in person. It's a little bit heavy and yes, it's another brown bag but I lovett!
The last two bags are kept under wraps for now. JJ's not that happy with one of them (haha) but that's not the reason I'm choosing to stay mum on them. I'll post pics when the time is right.

Saks Haul - Shoes
Sorry for the long delay between posts. I didn't mean to tease you with a peek and wait a week to post the actual haul.
Before I let you in on my purchases, you can read about the whole experience on JJ's blog or you can just check out the madness from these photos.

I can't stress enough how terribly insane nor how stressful the whole experience was but I'm glad I experienced it because I have 1.) new shoes 2.) new bags 3.) Christmas present for my mom and 4.) a story to tell. I guess when all is said and done, it's the story that counts the most (at least in my opinion).
Anyway, I'll start you guys off with the shoes (coz you know it's all about the shoes).
Scissor Girls in Purple Suede - I got these on Wednesday, the first day of the presale. JJ asked Saks the day before when the presale was going to start and the SA told her it was going to start on Thursday. I happened to stop by that afternoon and the sale had already started (apparently Saks decided to push it up a day early much to everyone's surprise). It was madness and I happened to chance upon the left side of this pair on one end of the Shoe Salon. Some girl (who happened to yell at me for touching her pile) left the right side on the other end of the Shoe Salon because the SA probably couldn't find the mate so I took it! I was lucky enough to find a pair that was my size.
Scissor Girls in Black Leather - Of all the pairs I grabbed Thursday morning (JJ and I had to go back for more), I ended up liking the same ones I already purchased the day before. I actually didn't mind so much since the looked nice on my feet (lol).
Very Prive in Brown Glittart (Tortoise Shell) - this elusive pair is my favorite! I actually almost bought these full price the week prior but I was hesitant because I thought they were a little snug. I had the SA locate a bigger size for me but no luck. I tried these on again on Wednesday night and I figure it's really not that snug, I could make it work. I asked the SA if they were on sale and he said "NO". So, I put them down and paid for the Purple Scissor Girls. Thursday morning, as we all rushed to the shoe section, I noticed these shoes were on the sale table so I immediately grabbed it. Now, it's in my closet and I'm a happy camper. Yay!
