Konichiwa! こにちわ!

I'm still in Japan but I got an email from my mom a few days ago that deserves a blog entry. I recently moved into a new apartment and my dad was kind enough to install shelving in my closet since the new place has NO room for my stuff. Shortly after I left, the shelves collapsed from the weight of my clothes. *SIGH* My mom has been an angel and has been fixing up my new place while I'm on vacation. I wonder if she has remedied the closet space issue...I can only dream.

And by the way, the shelves didn't collapse because I have too many clothes. Trust me, I don't have enough. It's simply because my new place only has one teeny closet (whereas my old place had almost triple the amount of closet space that I have now). How's a girl supposed to survive with one TEENY TINY closet? I suppose I sound like a spoiled brat but if you saw my new closet, you'd understand.

If this is distressing, imagine how I'm going to fare in NYC! Assuming of course that I get in to Columbia, lol. *SIGH* Why can't I have this closet?

Something Blue

As I was making up a list of birthday presents for myself (yes, because I love lists and love presents), one of the things I put on that list was : "blue purse". I'm not the pickiest person when it comes to purses. As long as it's the "right" one (and I can usually tell when it makes my heart flutter when I pick it up), I'm not that concerned with what brand it is.

I've been looking and searching high and low for the "perfect" blue purse...but to no avail. Instead, here's what I ended up with... Oh wait...I did mention "birthday present". Hmmm, well, my birthday isn't until October so I guess this is another early birthday present (Tokyo trip being another early birthday present).

So, without further ado, my other early birthday present: Blue Suede Alta Iowas!!!

HAHA, not exactly a purse....told you I wasn't that big on purses. But it's BLUE!!! and suede! I couldn't resist.

Now, for some modeling shots:

Don't you just love birthdays?

My Shoes

Since I'm on a ban, I decided to take pics of my shoes. If you remember, back in February, I posted my CL collection. Well, in the past few months I've been a busy little bee so I think it's high time to update.

My current collection:

I love my shoes but I want MORE! You gotta love capitalism...

Back in School, Party's Over...

Since I've been out of school for a while, my wardrobe consists mostly of work-appropriate clothing and my shoes are mostly heels. Now that I'm back in school, it seems I have to revamp my whole closet to incorporate school-friendly clothing.

Since it's summer and I'm in LA, I can get by with shorts and tees. Madewell has the perfect casual looks that I want for school. I'm glad there's one close to me. :)

Each of the above looks are totally me (which is probably why I love Madewell). Simple and casual and quintessentially California.

I'm going to miss my heels. :(

Happy Birthday to me!

Yes, my birthday is still months away but since it's a big one, I've been thinking about presents for myself. I think I've mentioned before that I planned on getting a Chanel purse for my birthday.
I thought (and still think) that it's a great birthday present. It's timeless and classic. BUT, I'm not that big on purses and most likely, I'll move on to the next one after a month or so. Not really a great present if I'm only going to enjoy it for a month or so, right?

So, I thought about jewelry from Tiffany....stackable rings to be exact.

Don't they look yummy? Like yummy candy? Yummy candy for my fingers! As much as I love rings, I'm really not that big on jewelry. I even forgot that I bought a ring from Hawaii last year, although I did buy a new one from Cancun (hehe). Anyway, it really doesn't make sense for me to buy jewelry since I really don't wear it. Plus, I'm back in school so jewelry is a no-no especially with lab classes.

So what did I decide to get myself? Why another trip, of course! This time, I'm going to...

TOKYO! YAY! I'll be in Tokyo for 12 days with my lucky brother, James. Yay! Happy birthday to me!!!

Gucci New Large Jackie Guccissima Shoulder Bag

I've never been particularly drawn to Gucci bags but this one immediately caught my eye. Granted it could've been because of the beautiful gray color (have I mentioned how much I love gray?)

This is my favorite of all the Gucci bag silhouettes. The shape is pretty classic and the size is quite practical as well. Having said that, I also like the extra embellishments such as the hand-stitching details and the detachable strap (although not so much a fan of the tassle). I'm also still not a fan of the logos but they're pretty understated IRL that it's easy enough to ignore.

The only problem I have with this bag...the price tag. As pretty as this bag is, I don't think it has enough oomph to command a $3,000+ price tag, especially in this economy.

OMFG

I'm gone for a couple weeks and what kind of fugliness greets me? The expensive yet trash-y kind, that's what. It really baffles me (and breaks my heart) when brilliant designers (such as Msr. Louboutin) give us something like this:

I think this shoe needs an editor's touch. Everything seems to have been thrown on this shoe except the kitchen sink. *Shaking head* I really don't know what to make of this except that it could've been an error of judgment.

Now this shoe just looks sad. Is it just me or do you also get a little bit depressed at the look of this shoe? It looks so depressing that I probably won't even wear it to a funeral because it might just upset the mourners even more!

This one makes me laugh (in a sad kind of way). It's like a Tom's shoe gone S&M in a bad way. Where does one even wear this to? Um, yeah. I'm kinda at a loss for words on this one.

As much as I think these shoes are FUG, the sad reality is that someone will think that they are cute and shell out the $800+ dollars for these. *Sigh* Capitalism at its best. :)

I'm Back!!!

After quite a long break and hardly any posts for this month, I'm back and ready to blog!

My last week at work was extremely busy and add to that stress, getting ready to leave for a weeklong vacation....it was chaos. Cancun was a much needed break. I kept on wishing the week would last longer.

But now I'm back in LA and back in school. It's quite an adjustment but I kinda like it. For now. Let's see how I feel when it's time to pay bills. Lol.

Anyway, I've missed blogging but I've stuck to my quitting-my-job ban. I actually haven't bought anything AND I've returned 2 pairs of shoes and will be returning another pair!!! I'm proud of me. HAHAHA.

I'll be posting my sale finds (from beginning of June - sorry for the delay) soon so stay tuned!

Hot Pink Surprise

Remember when I posted about my outfit for my aunt's wedding about a month ago? (In case you don't, you can click here.) Well, I finally found the time to post the outfit pic I promised:

Dress: Madison Marcus
Shoes: Christian Louboutin
Clutch: Lauren Merkin
Watch: Cartier
Bracelet: No idea - from Nordstrom

Yes, I changed my mind about which dress to wear the very last minute...as in 10 minutes before we had to leave!!! Even the bride was surprised, lol. Oh, and of course, I had to take a completely gratuitous close-up of my shoes because they're gorgeous:

How NOT to Wear the Dillians

What is Vanessa Bryant thinking? Has she not heard of the concept of "overkill"?

Christian Louboutin's Dillians are a LOT of shoe to begin with. To add the matching python ruffled bag is just too much. Subtlety is key. Mrs. Bryant just ended up looking like she's trying too hard.

Burberry Drawstring Leather Tote

My heart just skipped a beat when I saw this Burberry Tote. Yes, it's not your usual run-of-the-mill "it" bag but that's probably why I love it. It has that slouchy, broken-in look that I absolutely adore. It's a pretty straightforward tote. There are no screaming logos and no fussy embellishments. Perfect.

Available at Saks for $550.

Because I'm a Sucker...

Everyone who reads my blog knows that I have a weakness for shoes. Only my close friends know I have a weakness for bikinis as well. I don't even know what link I clicked on which led me to a coupon code for 40% off on one clearance item from Victoria's Secret. Sweet, right? I couldn't help myself. I had to get over them to browse what they had. And with me, browsing ALWAYS (well, almost always) turns to buying. And I can't just get one, I had to get TWO. Such a sucker.

Here are the suits I bought.

Montana Ave. Sidewalk Sale

A few years ago, JJ and I ventured the Montana Ave. sidewalk sale. We were new friends bonding over shopping on a nice and sunny Saturday morning. I think it was her first time on Montana Ave. since she told me that she rarely shops at boutiques.

A few years later, recession and all, the Montana Sidewalk Sale is still alive and kicking. If you are in the area, check it out. While you're there, you might want to check out Aura - that's where I got my Nicholas Kirkwood slingback sandals back in March.

Sale Season is Here!!!

It's time to pull out your wallets ladies! It's summer sale time!

I don't even know why I'm so excited. I have never had great luck with sales and I shouldn't really be shopping anyway. So why is it that I am anxiously waiting to hear about the sale dates? Because as much as I'd like to stick to my list, my judgment gets clouded by sale prices. As soon as prices get slashed, all sense goes out the window. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels that way either.

Current CL Want/Need List

I think I mentioned before how I love making lists. I make shopping lists, grocery lists, to-do lists. Recently, I started a CL list since I wanted to restrict my CL purchases. Here's my list so far:

1.) Black Jazz DecolletesWe all need a pair of basic black pumps. I know CLs can be a little bit much for basic black pumps but the red sole adds a little kick to an otherwise bland/boring shoe. And yes, I, in fact, do NOT own a pair of black CL pumps. These need to be in my closet. NOW.

2.) Madame Claude in Hot Pink Patent or Blue Suede
I've posted about the Blue Suede and how much I love them. A couple weeks ago, I tried on the hot pink patent ones at Barney's and I fell in love too. I'm not sure which one wins in my book but I know I need a pair. Maybe even both.

3.) Something nude.
The Nude Patent Very Prive (not the one above) is probably one of the most sought-after nude-colored shoes out there. The CL boutiques received shipments of these shoes early this year and were pretty much sold out as soon as they received them. One day, I'll own a pair. At this point, they don't have to be VPs as long as they're nude. On second thought, maybe these aren't for me. Back in February, I tried on a pair of Nude New Simples and they couldn't find the mate. We'll see.

4.) Something fun.

This is always the best thing on my list. It doesn't really restrict me with my choices and I already have a couple in mind...both of which I've posted about before.
The Differa is one FIERCE shoe. Probably hard to pull off without giving off an S&M vibe which is why it's probably best in a softer color - bone or ice blue. As much as I love it though, I really have no where to wear it to.

The Dillians scream fun and spring. Although a little bit too girly for my taste, I still love staring at this shoe. Like I said in my previous post on these, if they go on sale, they'd come home with me.

Note: Wedding pics will be posted soon. Sorry for the delay on that. I'm also studying for the GREs and I have a paper due soon and finals coming up so I'll be posting sporadically.

Shoe Boxes

I never really paid attention to shoe boxes. Before I accumulated more than enough shoes, I used to toss my shoe boxes as soon as I got home. I realized later on that it was a bad idea since all my shoes that were on the shoe racks started gathering layers of dust. Then I started buying designer shoes. I couldn't let these babies get dusty so I kept them in their shoe boxes. Like I mentioned, I never really paid attention to what the boxes look like because I couldn't wait to get the shoes out of those boxes.

I was pretty satisfied with my Christian Louboutin shoe boxes:

At first I was a little put off by the simplicity but I realized that the packaging doesn't really matter because it's what's inside that counts.

Then I came across a Lanvin shoe box:

The box is so pretty. Every time you open one, it's almost as if you're opening a present. It's so pretty but when you really think about it, who has time to go through all that when you're in a rush in the morning. Hmmm, that might just be me. But yeah, impressive shoe box right?

I thought so too until I came across an Alaia shoe box:

The Alaia box looks like a little treasure chest! The belt might make it hard to open when you're in a rush, definitely much harder than the Lanvin box. But isn't the box gorgeous? I almost want to buy a pair just so I can get my hands on the box. Yeah, kinda sick when you really think about it, I know. *Sigh*
